Temporary Advising and Student Services Specialist



The School of Computing and Information is seeking a higher education professional to support our Student Services team while two staff members take parental leave. Experience in student and/or academic affairs preferred. This position will have three main responsibility areas – 1) maintaining a roster of about 90 undergraduate advisees 2) Supporting event planning for school-wide programs, and 3) Assisting our Student Success team with student outreach related to academic coaching. These responsibilities will involve close collaboration with SCI’s Student Services team leaders and the position will report to the Senior Director of Student and Academic Affairs.


1. The advising component will involve shadowing the Director of Academic Advising beginning in November of 2024 and inheriting full responsibility for her roster by the start of the Spring 2025 term, maintaining that roster through the end of the Spring 2025 term.

2. Support for event planning will include working with the Senior Director of Student and Academic Affairs on logistics relating to SCI’s fall graduation ceremony and spring orientation.

3. The academic coaching component will involve helping to conduct outreach to students who are referred to SCI’s Student Success office.
