Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager with experience in Life Sciences. The successful candidate will be based in Raleigh, NC with the ability to travel to client sites as required. Regional candidates living in strategic locations and/or willing to travel to client sites will also be considered.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Using in-house construction management procedures and experience, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Oversees total construction field effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, specifications, budgets, and schedules. Generally responsible for projects or subset of project with value up to $50M
Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
Supervises all areas on small projects and / or a subset / discipline on larger projects
Responsible for management and execution of multiple field disciplines or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company's operating policies and principles
Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project
Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned disciplines / subset of on-site construction
Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities of materials and equipment.
Coordinates field personnel work schedules to maximize utilization and ensure work is delivered on schedule
Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan
Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal, and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions
Initiate safety, quality, and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment, and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements
Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on-site construction. Utilize Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation, and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Wood Policies & Procedures
Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required
Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability
Project Specific Responsibilities:
Plan and supervise Sub-Contractors activities by developing /reviewing/monitoring - method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, work schedule and productivity
Coordinate assigned work scope with different Project Contractors
Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
Assist in resolving construction problem (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)
Monitor and enforce craft compliance with project safety program requirements
Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, support craft activities follow the project schedule
Working Relationships:
Internal: contractors / subcontractors, construction management, field personnel, HSEQ, project controls, project management
External: may interact with client on a tactical level

QUALIFICATIONS
Typically, minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma / apprenticeship) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 15 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry
