Job Description:

The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) invites applications for tenure-line faculty positions at the level of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. We seek dynamic and innovative scholars with a priority focus on sport law and its intersection with public policy. Successful candidates will join a vibrant and collaborative faculty dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and service. We are particularly interested in candidates with policy and/or law expertise in one or more of the following areas: sport governance and regulation, legal issues in collegiate and professional sports, labor relations in sport, intellectual property and sport, sport ethics and compliance, public policy and sport and economic development, advocacy / social justice, health and safety regulations in sport, international sport law and policy, the impact of legislation on sport organizations, antitrust and competition law in sport, or digital/media law in sport.

Candidates for this open faculty position will be expected to maintain a robust research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in our sport management program, and have research expertise appropriate for effectively mentoring trainees at the undergraduate, doctoral, and / or post-doctoral levels.  

Requirements include a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or J.D.) in Sport Management, Law, Public Policy, or a related field, experience mentoring and teaching undergraduate and graduate students, publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research, engagement in service, the ability to seek and secure external funding, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates should demonstrate their contributions to a positive workplace culture, aligned with our schools core values.
