Performs duties as directed in calibration, Dosimetry, treatment planning, and safety as they relate to radiation therapy. Supervises routine Dosimetry procedures.
Major Accountabilities:
1. Performs calibrations of external beam treatment units and brachytherapy sources and delivery units.
2. Performs routine quality assurance evaluations of machines, treatment units, calculations, software, and patient treatment delivery.
3. Performs treatment planning and dose calculations for external beam therapy and brachytherapy.
4. Maintains proper records and documentation.
5. Supervises clinical Dosimetry.
6. Provides technical, clinical, and radiation protection instruction for staff.
7. Participates in the development of new treatment modalities.
8. Studies towards maintaining board certification.
9. Interacts with physicians, staff, and patients to deliver optimal teletherapy and brachytherapy treatments.
10. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance measures.
11. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, and workshops.
12. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
13. Works cooperatively and communicates politely with all staff and patients.
14. Participates in intra- and extra-departmental physics education and in-services.
Education/Experience/Training: • Master's Degree or PHD In Medical Physics or Related Field. • Board Certification by ABR (American Board of Radiology) or ABMP (American Board of Medical Physics) Is Required. • Minimum 5 Years Experience Is Required.
