Immediate opportunity for a Scientist to support a drug discovery project with a leading biotechnnology company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. You will be a part of the Therapeutic Discovery organization joining the Lead Discovery and Characterization Department in support of Company's small molecule drug discovery pipeline.
Schedule/Shift: 1st shift, Mon.-Fri
Position Type: 3 mos. contract (through Dec. 2024); potential for extension
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Optimize and perform routine cell-based assays to support lead identification and mechanism-of-action studies in the development of new therapeutic agents
Semi-independently plan and implement experiments, adapt readily to changing project needs and develop sophisticated problem-identification and problem resolution skills
Maintain proficiency with the latest scientific literature and rationale surrounding drug targets and be an active contributor to the interpretation of results in group discussions
Show excellent collaboration and communication skills as this role requires an ability to work closely with other scientists in the group and across Company
Adherence to good laboratory conduct, documentation practices, and safety guidelines
Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree training in Cell and/or Molecular Biology or closely related field Or Master's degree (MS) and 2+ years relevant experience.
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a biopharmaceutical setting and desire to work in cross-functional environments
Track record of developing, implementing, and performing cell-based screening assays in microtiter plates to support early drug discovery research
Mammalian cell culture
Experience and understanding in methods for the analysis of cells (i.e. live-cell imaging, flow cytometry), proteins (HTRF, MSD, ELISA, western blot), and RNA (RT-qPCR, NGS)
Subject-matter expertise in induced-proximity therapeutics, targeted protein degradation, or the ubiquitin-proteasome system
Excellent time management skills and ability to establish priorities and meet timelines
Familiarity with software and statistical platforms for data analysis (GraphPad Prism, R)
