An IT Infrastructure Technical Project Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and management of an organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of the IT environment, which includes hardware, software, networks, and data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management: Oversee and manage the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and data centers.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, and support staff.
Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee IT infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Capacity Planning: Monitor and forecast infrastructure capacity needs to ensure scalability and performance.
Security: Implement and enforce security policies and practices to protect the IT infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
Disaster Recovery: Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure data integrity and availability in case of a failure.
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for infrastructure projects and operational costs.
Service Level Agreement (SLAs): Track SLA compliance and performance metrics, regular SLA reporting and performance review with team and client.
Essential Skills:
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud services.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a technical team, as well as effective communication skills for collaborating with other departments and stakeholders.
Project Management: Ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects efficiently, including managing resources and timelines.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Security Awareness: Understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to protect the IT infrastructure.
Vendor Management: Skills in negotiating and managing relationships with hardware and software vendors.
Budgeting: Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs related to IT infrastructure.
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and changing business needs.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
Typical Background:
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is usually required. Advanced degrees or certifications can be beneficial.
Experience: Several years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with a background in servers, storage, networking, and data centers
