Job Description:

Bethany Hill Place, a housing and education nonprofit in Framingham (MA), seeks a mission driven leader with a commitment to social justice to provide transformative educational and social programming. The Program Events and Volunteer Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for managing educational workshops and community events for residents; recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers; managing internal (resident) communications; supporting youth programming initiatives; and tracking the mission effectiveness of Bethany Hill Place. The Program Events and Volunteer Manager collaborates with other program staff and community partners to ensure that the programming and support offered at Bethany Hill Place is responsive to resident needs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Events: Initiate, plan, and manage community events

- Manage staff, vendors, residents, and volunteers for key events such as the annual Summer Cookout, Thanksgiving dinner, tree lighting, and other events

- Manage budgets and reporting related to events, ensuring appropriate cost and quality controls are in place.

- Work with residents (through an educational advisory committee or similar) to design and pilot new community-building and educational events

- Lead resident small group programming as needed

- Coordinate the Bethany Hill Place Community Garden

2. Volunteer Engagement: Recruit, onboard, and support volunteers.

- Create a pipeline of volunteers for events, in-kind donations, facilities projects, specialized resident support, etc.

- Act as a primary point of contact for questions pertaining to paperwork, scheduling, expectations, and opportunities. Track and retain CORI and other relevant forms in accordance with established procedures.

- Provide volunteer training and support to ensure an effective and positive experience

- Track volunteer participation and ensure individuals are adequately thanked and recognized.

3. Mission Effectiveness:

- Set program goals, track progress, setbacks, and overall performance to show social impact of the organization's unique housing and programming model.

- Create, implement, and/or utilize systems to track data pertaining to resident goal attainment, volunteer participation, in-kind donations, etc.

- Plan and manage the annual program budget, including managing grant expenditures.

4. Youth Programming: Support the program director in the design and delivery of youth programs

- Assist in the design and delivery of twice-weekly after-school clubs (Mon/Wed 5-6PM) and the 2-week summer club for children and youth.

- Work with residents, staff, and partners to develop programming for older youth.

- In conjunction with fellow program staff and the Executive Director, plan and manage the program budget (annually) and manage any grant funds designated for programming.

5. Communications: Resident communications

- Collaborate with fellow program and housing staff to ensure internal resident communication is accessible, digestible, effective and streamlined.

- Through third-party service management or personal knowledge, ensure proper translation for residents.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

- Create and nurture effective communication within the organization

- Participate enthusiastically in community activities, planning and leading as needed.

- Maintain a mentoring presence, advocate, and supporter for residents.

- Work to reflect the values of Bethany Hill Place - care of the dear neighbor without distinction, peaceful conflict resolution, care for the earth, and gracious hospitality, including ensuring residents respect the community and the organization's mission.

- Work effectively and collaboratively with relevant community partners.

- Work with the Development staff to ensure availability of programming materials and impact data for Bethany Hill Place's print and digital media content.

- Provide program support for late afternoon / early evening events, generally no more than twice a week.

- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

? Background in nonprofit management, social work, human services, and/or education required

? Bachelor's degree required

? Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds

? Comfortable serving as an advocate and liaison for Bethany Hill Place

? Ability to work independently and as part of a team

? Sound budgeting skills

? Highly proficient with MS Office, Google tools, Zoom, and other technologies

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail

? Ability to work flexible hours - oversight of evening workshops and some weekend events as needed (generally no more than twice weekly)

? Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Haitian-Creole strongly preferred

The Program Events and Volunteer Manager role is full time (exempt) and located in Framingham, MA. As a primarily resident-facing role, an on-site/in person presence is required with limited flexibility for remote work. The salary range for this full-time position is $57,000 to $67,000. The successful candidate's salary will be determined commensurate with experience, education level, and skills.
