Job Description:

SUMMARY

The PLC/PC Engineer contributes to the design and development of all PC Software for current XCT3 projects as well as assisting in the research of new products and design tools. They will work closely with all facets of engineering and manufacturing from the earliest stages of the design process and assist with system integration to ensure that all software requirements and customer standards are met. The objective is to develop standardized software designs and techniques that can be reutilized for improved efficiency and cost effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supports XCT3 test projects from inception through completion of program and commissioning at the end user sites.
  • Ability to program in C++ or similar.
  • Create device drivers for products that will interface with PC based XTC3 test control.
  • Organizes and manages all PC software engineering efforts and concepts, and reviews these with the Controls Project Engineering Leader.
  • Adheres to customer design/test requirements.
  • Reviews all drawings prior to final release and ensures compliance for project internal buyoffs, including test hardware as outlined in the customer's test specifications.
  • Supports the Engineering/Project Controls budgets/schedules and ensures designs are cost effective.
  • Ensures engineering compliance with all customer specifications, and machine/electric codes based on the final country of ownership. Ensure company awareness of specifications.
  • Creates change information for Controls Project Engineers and Estimating.
  • Aids proposal department in estimating, and conception of new projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred bachelor's degree (EE, CS).
  • Proficiency programming in C++, as well as the development of software drivers for device configuration/communication preferred.
  • Familiar with LabView or other similar machine control software.
  • PLC software (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and Automated Test Stand product testing experience is also preferred.
  • Familiar with electrical design, circuit design, PLC programming, testing, and troubleshooting of automated machinery.
  • Knowledge of machine communication protocols: Ethernet, Profinet, EtherCat, etc.
