JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Manager - Media and Advertising is responsible for planning and execution of paid media. Recommends media options with the end goal of increasing Kentucky Lottery Corporation (KLC) sales. Manages paid media strategy across all channels as well as organic and paid social media. Recommends new media platforms and strategies resulting in increased advertising exposure, cost savings to the KLC on media purchases, and increased key performance metrics in player acquisition, growth, retention, and overall brand awareness. Coordinates with Products, Communications, and Marketing Departments on projects involving media and advertising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and manages the overall media and advertising strategy in collaboration with theAgency of Record. Oversees Agency of Record's Media plans and prepares and executes additional in-house media buys.

  • Manages the relationship with the Agency of Record including establishing and overseeing processes and procedures for advertising workflows, media management, and reporting.

  • Develops and maintains media project schedules, content calendars and operational tasks.

  • Manages multi-million-dollar media budget and billing process. Makes recommendations for changes in media buying strategies based on actionable insights which will result in increased advertising exposure and cost savings for the KLC.

  • Oversees the KLC's social media strategy including organic social media, social media advertising, and emerging platforms and technologies.

  • Partners with key stakeholders including Product Managers, Finance, and Research to communicate media investment return and share of voice/market data.

  • Performs research to keep in step with the ever-changing media landscape utilizing industry research. Evaluates Nielsen ratings and keeps Media team and Marketing Department notified of changing trends.

  • Manages Marketing Specialist - Digital & Social and oversees the performance of all organic and paid social media functions performed by that role. Provides mentorship using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis. Establishes and monitors performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, and conducts annual performance appraisals.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in strategic planning, implementation and optimization of marketing and omnichannel campaigns.

  • Participates in other marketing activities as outlined by the Director of Strategic Marketing or the VP, Chief Brand Officer.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five years' marketing experience with a focus on advertising and paid media.
  • Supervisory experience including effective performance management, coaching, and counseling preferred. Individuals who have exhibited solid leadership and team building skills may also be considered.
  • Proven experience quantifying traditional and digital marketing effectiveness and profitability.
  • Experience in buying, analyzing, and/or selling media preferred.
  • Experience working with Nielsen television ratings, Nielsen Audio ratings, and Strata computer program (or similar media software) preferred.
  • Must be able to formulate and execute creative and cost-efficient strategies for media placement.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and a proven aptitude for working with numbers in addition to a creative eye.
  • Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be empathetic, collaborative, and capable of communicating effectively in diverse situations.
  • Must have the ability to work in fast-paced environment with the flexibility to accommodate
  • demanding project schedules and constantly prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines daily.
  • Demonstrate creativity and out-of-the box thinking, constantly pushing new ideas and programs to solve sales and marketing challenges.
  • Strategically and operationally strong with the ability to synthesize complex information into a simple strategy and execute.
  • Solid planning and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous
  • complex projects and schedules with proven attention-to-detail required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, peers, and employees. Good collaboration skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience utilizing A/B testing and experimentation to grow performance metrics and build an understanding of what works with various audience segments.
  • Excellent computer skills required with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Salary Range: $74,154 - $111,282. Placement within the salary range is determined based on years of directly relatable experience for the position.
