Job Description:

Role Summary

The Mechanical Engineer performs a variety of engineering tasks in collaboration with regional and central support staff, collectively focused on the continuous improvement of all plant equipment. This role will focus on implementing innovative, low life cycle cost engineering solutions for various operations and maintenance issues, as well as supporting the creation and execution of capital projects in accordance with industry-accepted engineering practices, governing regulations, and operating procedures.

This role involves travel as needed to offices and facilities located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Limited overnight and out-of-region travel may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and analyze equipment predictive maintenance programs
  • Direct equipment root cause incident investigations
  • Identify and communicate risks associated with all stages of the asset life cycle
  • Perform plant and system-level engineering studies
  • Communicate recommendations to management and other affected parties in a way that fosters consensus and facilitates favorable project outcomes
  • Develop comprehensive capital improvement projects, including clear scope definitions, investment valuations of alternatives, and execution plans
  • Evaluate and recommend contractors and technical service providers
  • Solicit internal and/or external expertise as needed
  • Ensure engineering documentation is retained, including drawings, reference manuals, and related information
  • Utilize central information systems to ensure accurate project costing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred, or pursuing licensure upon hire
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in an engineering environment (power generation experience is a plus) with comprehensive knowledge of mechanical designs
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout MA, NH, and VT
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time-management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on AutoCAD and MicroStation CAD packages
