Job Description:

Our client is a non-profit organization established by the largest U.S. banks to address systemic risk for critical financial systems that underpin national and economic security.

They facilitate collaboration between critical infrastructure operators, the U.S. Government, and other key industry partners in a controlled environment where participants can securely work together to reduce the likelihood and impact of a major disruption.

Together, they conduct analysis of critical systems, monitor and warn against global threats to those systems, and develop measures to make them more resilient.

Position Summary

They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join their IT team. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in managing and supporting IT infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of systems across the organization. The Senior Systems Administrator will play a key role in maintaining the organization's critical systems, leading infrastructure projects, and providing guidance to other staff members.

Responsibilities

System Maintenance & Monitoring:
  • Manage and maintain the organization's server infrastructure (Windows).
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Perform regular system health checks, updates, and patch management.

Cloud Infrastructure Management:
  • Manage cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure) and ensure optimal performance.
  • Plan and implement cloud migration strategies as needed.
  • Optimize cloud resource usage and cost through effective monitoring and automation.

Virtualization & Storage Management:
  • Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS).
  • Monitor and optimize resource utilization in virtualized environments.
  • Cloud Storage setup and management.

Backup & Disaster Recovery:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure data integrity and business continuity by regularly testing recovery solutions.

Network Administration:
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues.
  • Ensure network security and perform regular network monitoring.

Automation & Scripting:
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC).

User & Helpdesk Support:
  • Provide Tier 1-3 support for escalated technical issues.
  • Mentor and guide other staff members with improving their computer skill and knowledge.

Project Management:
  • Lead IT infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions that align with business needs.

Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and services for IT infrastructure needs.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in systems administration and infrastructure management.

Certifications:
  • Relevant base certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Linux+
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
  • Networking: CCNP (Preferred), CCNA
  • Project management Professional: PMP

Technical Skills:
  • Operating Systems: Advanced proficiency in Windows Server and Linux. Cloud Services: Expertise in managing cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. Azure, Azure AD, and Azure Apps.
  • Virtualization: Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
  • Networking: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, and firewall management.
  • Security: Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and SIEM solutions.
  • Backup & Recovery: Proficiency in backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Acronis) and disaster recovery planning.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).

Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
