Summary/Objective

Environment for the Americas (EFTA) is a non-profit organization located in Boulder, Colorado. EFTA works to connect diverse people to nature and bird conservation through education, outreach and research. Our research and education extends across the Americas and focuses primarily on migratory species. We work to engage youth, adults, and families in activities that motivate them to get outdoors, contribute to research, learn about the outdoors, and become passionate advocates for conservation. We are seeking an energetic individual for a one year position who will conduct monarch research and surveys in Colorado, develop educational programs for military installations in multiple states, including California, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and other midwestern states. The individual will also participate in the development and implementation of other education-focused activities, such as World Migratory Bird Day and our growing local programs.

? Focus of the work will be developing education programs about the monarch butterfly and organizing

events in multiple states.

? Support and lead other educational activities at Environment for the Americas, such as local programming,

including youth activities and adult programs.

? Contribute to the organization's communications by preparing articles on education programs, developing

outreach flyers, etc.

? Communicate broadly with our partners.

? Work with other EFTA programs to integrate our education materials into their activities.

? Work within a project budget.

? Complete a report of activities to be shared both digitally and in-print.

May participate in monarch and milkweed surveys as part of a larger team.

6. Communication skills must extend to making phone calls and developing professional connections with

partners;

7. Experience and ability to travel to program sites;

8. Valid driver's license and ability to drive rental cars;

9. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends when necessary;

10. Prior field experience with proven ability to accurately collect and submit data;

11. Excellent computer and organizational skills;

12. Experience and ability to work with program partners.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job will include a combination of field work, leading education programs, and organizing events. The position will be primarily in our main office in Boulder, Colorado, with 3 days minimum in the office, and with travel to other sites as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, one year position with a minimum of three days/week working in our office in Boulder. The option to extend is dependent on funding. Expect to work some evenings and weekends as job duties demand. Travel is required.

Travel

Up to 15% travel with at least one trip to California, one to Texas, and two or more to Colorado Springs, CO.

Required Education and Experience

A minimum of 3 years of proven ability to organize activities including relevant work experience.

Proven experience working with youth, adults, and families.

Ability to meet deadlines and work in a timely fashion.

Ability to collaborate and make good judgment in day-to-day decision making.

Some science background with knowledge of butterflies, birds and nature in general.

Preferred Education & Experience

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years experience developing, organizing, and implementing education programs and events, particularly environmental education focusing on wildlife, habitats, and other aspects of the natural world.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency is helpful.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Employee must be authorized to work in the United States and must possess a valid driver's license.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience beginning at $52,000.00. Environment for the Americas' benefits package includes 80% of a medical insurance and dental insurance plan, matching retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
