Cost estimating is one of the most crucial positions to advance our record growth. This position is instrumental in driving project cost accuracy and leading the estimating functions of the company. The ideal candidate must be effective and accurate in estimating multiple large projects and proficient enough to estimate smaller projects at the same time. We support design-build activity nationwide.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We want a seasoned Estimator with proven skills in Autodesk, ProEst, and Building Connected (ViewPoint Construction knowledge is always helpful), MS Office (boring but necessary in our field), advanced Microsoft Excel skills and print reading are a must.
You've got commercial design-build experience with the ability to estimate costs based on conceptual ideas, by leveraging your construction knowledge and expertise.
You can spot missing trade costs or inflated materials prices within a proposal before it's sent out.
You are a leading contributor when working with a team but can go solo when you need to get the job done-you might have been the one in school who finished the group project when everyone else was slacking.
You respond to critique like a champ, your turnaround time is Jimmy Johns fast, and you can narrow and widen your focus at will.
Some people are afraid to look uninformed, but you ask all the questions. We like that. How else do you learn?
WHAT YOUR TIME WILL LOOK LIKE:
40% of your time will be spent on: • Estimate construction costs for new ground-up commercial construction, build-outs, and tenant improvements. • Workflow management, understand, and report bid and estimating status. • Critically read, interpret, assess, and respond to RFPs or other requests for bids. • Prepare and submit RFI's, with follow-up until receipt of information.
30% of your time will be spent on: • Coordinate solicitation of subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing. • Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting pricing and project costs. • Identify material and labor resources in market areas located across the United States. • Maintain prequalified material and labor resources.
30% of your time will be spent on: • Review project plans and lead work plan cost reviews. • Post-construction analysis of projects to verify estimate accuracy. • Mastery of CSI format.
WHAT WE'LL ASK YOU TO DO: • Manage multiple projects and work independently in a detail-oriented, fast-paced, and but deadline-driven environment • Dive into project cost to identify risks and potential for error. • Demonstrate resourcefulness, accountability and outstanding attention to detail • Respond effectively and appropriately to feedback • Provide quality control over cost estimates and overall project costs. • Interact with other departments to solve pricing problems and put out "fires" • Organize detailed trade cost data and project cost history
WHAT YOU HAVE: • 5+ years of experience in high volume estimating on commercial construction. • National estimating experience. • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and customer service attitude. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and flexible environment. • Technically minded with a demonstrated ability to understand, document, improve, and automate a process. • Construction job costing and revenue recognition experience a plus.
