Our client, a global leader in sustainable biomass production, is seeking an experienced Regional Fiber Manager to oversee fiber procurement, logistics, and sustainability for their existing and future biomass (wood and agricultural) pellet plants in the US Southeast. This is a key strategic role focused on building relationships, ensuring quality procurement, and optimizing logistics for their operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Fiber Procurement & Relationships: Cultivate and manage relationships with suppliers for fiber procurement at current and upcoming pellet facilities across the Southeast.
Contract Tracking: Monitor all fiber deliveries to ensure they meet contract volume and quality, and manage daily receipts.
Market Insights: Regularly communicate with buyers and sellers to stay informed about the residuals market, identifying risks and opportunities to support decision-making.
Sustainability Certifications: Assist in managing sustainability certifications for the region, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Logistics Management: Oversee the delivery of wood pellets via rail and truck, ensuring contract performance and quality assurance (QA/QC) standards are met at the terminal.
Negotiation & Contracting: Secure optimal fiber and logistics contracts, negotiating the best terms for both current and future pellet facilities.
Primary Objectives:
Ensure accurate tracking of deliveries against contract terms for raw materials and logistics.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of fiber procurement and logistics in the region, providing regular updates to the Fiber Manager.
Drive cost-efficiency and quality in fiber and logistics operations, securing the best terms for the company.
Facilitate and coordinate local sustainability programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Industry Expertise: Extensive experience in forest, agricultural resources, or commodities, with a deep understanding of procurement, logistics, negotiation, and sustainability certification.
Wood Product Manufacturing or Biomass Background: Experience in wood product manufacturing, woody biomass, or pulp and paper industries is highly preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems (preferably Microsoft D365). QA/QC certification experience is a plus.
Logistics & Contract Management: Proven ability to manage rail and truck logistics, contract negotiations, and sustainability certifications.
Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel 25%, with some potential for international trips.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Agricultural Economics, Business, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in biomass or residuals procurement in the US Southeast.
