Job Description: Estimator - Shoring/Earth Retention Systems
Location: Madison, WI
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator with a strong background in heavy civil construction to join my client as they start a new Shoring and Earth Retention Systems division. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the growth and success of this division, utilizing their expertise in estimating and project management to develop accurate, competitive bids and ensure the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for shoring and earth retention system projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to accurately assess project scope and requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
Conduct risk assessments and value engineering to optimize project costs and timelines.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to obtain competitive pricing and ensure project success.
Monitor and analyze market trends, material costs, and construction methods to provide informed estimates.
Support the division's strategic planning and business development efforts by providing input on project feasibility and profitability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, with a focus on shoring, earth retention systems, or related fields.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
