Job Summary:

SWX Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to join our DFW Division. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Commercial Concrete Construction with structural and architectural concrete as well as flatwork, paving, elevated decks and tilt wall.

This role involves performing quantity surveys, managing vendor and subcontractor relationships, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring project compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Perform quantity surveys of materials as shown on project plans.
  • Read and outline project specifications.
  • Maintain an audit trail of quantity surveys from estimate to estimate.
  • Manage vendor/subcontractor pricing, bid solicitation, and coordination.
  • Distribute plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
  • Work collaboratively with project team members, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Prepare complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
  • Summarize material and other costs for vendor quotes.
  • Develop and manage scopes of work for all subcontractors.
  • Utilize knowledge of project schedules and logistics in estimates.
  • Collaborate with operations and field staff to develop economical construction methods.
  • Provide professional and comprehensive deliverables at the completion of each major estimate.
  • Identify and improve project profitability opportunities.
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, materials) with attention to budgetary limitations.
  • Plan all construction operations and schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Supervise project staff and subcontractors, providing guidance as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
  • Maintain fluent liaison with clients to facilitate project activities.
  • Analyze contract requirements, special provisions, and bid proposals for compliance.
  • Prepare and administer pre-construction submittals, correspondence, RFIs, RFPs, negotiation memoranda, and contract documentation.
  • Identify contract and owner-directed changes, issue proper notifications, and follow up with clients.
  • Prepare and negotiate responses to RFPs, change order requests, and claims. Update and maintain project budgets and cash flow projections monthly.
  • Update work progress, contract status, costs, and scheduling reviews monthly.
  • Work with superintendents and foremen to plan, schedule, organize, and direct construction activities.
  • Assign labor and equipment resources to projects.
  • Procure supplies and materials to complete projects.
  • Recognize major risks and take appropriate measures to mitigate them.
  • Provide guidance, direction, coaching, and support to direct reports.

Education & Skill Requirements:
  • Proven 5 years of experience in concrete project estimation and management.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and project management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
