Job Description:

WE ARE NAVFAC - Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command is made up of Civil Engineer Corps officers, civilians and contractors serving as engineers, architects, contract specialists, electricians, plumbers and other professionals. We deliver the best value in facilities engineering and acquisition for the Navy and Marine Corps, Unified Commanders, and Department of Defense agencies. Our NAVFAC Command Information Office (CIO) is looking for IT people who are experienced and interested in supporting Information Systems and venture out into a career with the U.S. NAVY. As an Information Systems Specialist, you will provide technical support and guidance to other business/support lines or functional areas as appropriate, exercising sound IS skills.

Duties/Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Perform moderate degree of system analysis for design/development of new, re-engineered, and /or enhanced systems and/or applications. Perform analysis for new or improved technical business process solutions. Solve design and development problems encountered during testing and/or implementation.
  • Elicit, write and document Business Requirements, Business Case Analysis, feasibility studies, define system scope, objectives, and translate functional requirements into design specifications.
  • Development and Integration of existing and new system components: e.g., procedures, databases, policies, software, and hardware; plans system implementation; and /or ensures rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the systems analysis process.
  • Serves as technical representative in meeting, conferences, and seminars designated to arrive at solutions to mutual problems encountered and to provide knowledge and information concerning state-of-the-art techniques, software and hardware. Develops guidelines, standard operating procedures, services and activities.
  • Development of Information Technology System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) management concepts, methodology; IT security principles, quality assurance in support.
  • Develop and/or management of systems using government enterprise systems and/or programming languages approved and required by the government.

The ideal candidate has the following:

As an IS Specialist you shall be able to perform moderate degree of system analysis for the design of existing or new re-engineered systems or applications. Must be proficient with databases, and understand SQL, automated frameworks, performance and security. Translate functional requirements into design specifications. Design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing application software. Develop software solutions, which provide integrated information management and information technology capabilities to meet specified warfighter and business requirements. Quickly adaptable to multiple programming languages as defined by Government.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must hold U.S. Citizenship
  • Aged 18 or older at time of hire
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
