Job Description:

The Photodiode Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of photodiodes, ensuring they meet the performance specifications for various optical and electronic applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in semiconductor physics, photonics, and optoelectronic device design, with a focus on photodiode technology. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, product development, and manufacturing to deliver innovative solutions that push the boundaries of photodetection capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Design photodiodes and related optoelectronic components using semiconductor materials (e.g., silicon, InGaAs) and technologies for applications such as telecommunications, medical imaging, and consumer electronics.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop prototypes and conduct performance testing to ensure devices meet required specifications, including sensitivity, response time, noise characteristics, and wavelength range.
  • Simulation and Modeling: Use simulation tools (e.g., TCAD, COMSOL) to model photodiode behavior, optimize performance parameters, and predict device behavior under different operating conditions.
  • Material Science: Work with different semiconductor materials and processes to improve photodiode efficiency and reliability.
  • Failure Analysis: Diagnose and troubleshoot photodiode performance issues by conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with system engineers and customers to integrate photodiodes into larger optoelectronic systems, providing technical support and design guidance.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in photodetection and optoelectronics, contributing to R&D initiatives and innovation projects.
  • Process Optimization: Work with manufacturing teams to ensure that photodiode designs are scalable and cost-effective for mass production, optimizing fabrication processes and yields.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal teams, customers, and stakeholders, detailing design processes, testing results, and product specifications.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or a related field. PhD preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in photodiode design, optoelectronics, or semiconductor devices.
