Position Overview:
The **Director of Construction** will be responsible for the overall management of construction operations for swimming pool and hardscape projects. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in construction management, particularly in both residential and commercial environments. You will oversee multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality, safety, budget adherence, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Project Oversight:** Manage all aspects of swimming pool and hardscape construction, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- **Team Leadership:** Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, site supervisors, and construction staff. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- **Client Relations:** Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring that their vision is translated into reality, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.
- **Budget & Cost Control:** Develop and manage construction budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality. Monitor financial performance, including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
- **Quality Control & Compliance:** Oversee construction to ensure adherence to all design specifications, safety regulations, and local building codes. Implement best practices and maintain high-quality standards.
- **Vendor & Subcontractor Management:** Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely project delivery.
- **Scheduling & Timelines:** Develop comprehensive project schedules, tracking milestones and ensuring timely completion of all phases of construction.
- **Innovation & Efficiency:** Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative construction methods to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- **Experience:** Minimum of 7-10 years in construction management, with a strong background in swimming pools, hardscapes, and outdoor spaces. Experience in both residential and commercial projects is required.
- **Leadership:** Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate, and grow a diverse team.
- **Technical Skills:** Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering principles, and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore).
- **Communication:** Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- **Budgeting:** Solid experience in project budgeting, cost estimation, and financial management.
- **Problem-Solving:** Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and mitigate risks.
- **Licenses/Certifications:** Relevant construction management certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are a plus. A general contractor's license is preferred.
