Job Description:

About the National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust:

The National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust was founded in 2002 to fund the retirement benefits of railroad workers and their dependents in the United States. The Trust was established as an independent entity to invest the assets of the Railroad Retirement Account in a globally diversified portfolio. The Trust, with a current net asset value of approximately $27 billion, is a dynamic and innovative investment organization. Our investment professionals follow a team approach to managing assets across sectors and geographies, and our goal is to deliver consistent and superior performance across asset classes through rigorous due diligence, including utilizing the best research and technology available.

Position Description:

The Investment Analyst position is multi-faceted and provides professional growth opportunities across multiple asset classes. While the Trust typically rotates Analyst coverage of asset classes every few years, the Analyst's initial role primarily will be supporting the Trust's Absolute Return and Opportunistic portfolios. The Analyst will have a broad range of responsibilities, including participation in analysis and evaluation of investment opportunities within asset classes; research and development of investment strategies; sourcing, evaluation, and oversight of external managers; performance analysis; preparing quarterly investment reports; presenting recommendations and asset class reviews at Trust Board meetings; and participation in strategic asset allocation studies. NRRIT follows a hybrid schedule of Tuesdays-Thursdays as core in-office days. Mondays and Fridays are optional remote-work days. Some travel is required.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have two to four years of relevant institutional investment experience and will have (or are pursuing) a CFA designation. An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in business, economics, or finance. While not required, a Master's degree in Finance or an MBA is a plus.

Applicants should have excellent analytical, quantitative, written, and oral presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required, as well as other Office products (Word and PowerPoint). Experience with FactSet, Refinitiv, Wilshire Compass, investment manager databases, and returns-based software is desired.

We seek individuals with intellectual curiosity; strong analytical capability; the ability to handle, self-direct, and prioritize multiple responsibilities concurrently; and the ability to work independently to perform a variety of tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Candidates also should be experienced at challenging others respectfully in investment discussions and have the demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team environment.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience, with an expected range of $90,000 to $98,000, as well as additional annual bonus potential. Full benefits package, including health insurance coverage. NRRIT does not sponsor applicants for employment visas. No relocation allowance will be provided. Qualified individuals should submit their letter of interest and resume to hiring@nrrit.com.
