Currently, we are seeking to hire a VP of Debt Investments to join our lending team at our headquarters in Newport Beach, CA. The employee will report to the SVP, Head of Debt Investments, and will be responsible for the origination and underwriting of new business for Buchanan principal lending activities, as well as the asset management of the employee's loan portfolio. An exceptional candidate will possess: • 10+ years of experience originating, underwriting, structuring, and closing $10-$50 million bridge and construction loans for multifamily, industrial, retail, office, and self-storage properties in the Western U.S. • Proven track record of success sourcing and structuring complex real estate debt transactions. • An established professional network of strong sponsors and reputable brokers within Buchanan's target markets. • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and achievement-oriented personality. • Ambition to independently build a pipeline of new business through consistent in-person meetings including travel to out-of-state markets. • Experience managing the entire underwriting, due diligence, documentation and closing processes. • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong ability to instill confidence, negotiate and to articulate complex ideas. • Excellent written communication skills. • Attention to detail and thoroughness of work product. • Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, economics or related.
