Oncology Unit - 4400



4400 is an 18 bed, Oncology/Palliative Care unit. The unit cares for oncology, palliative care, and hospice patients. The nurses are required to become chemotherapy certified through ONS (a nationally recognized certification). RRH reimburses or pays for this certification for our team members. Staff are also trained to use and care for patients on CADD pumps, used for patients who require high doses and increased frequencies of pain medication. These are seen for a variety of reasons but are commonly seen with sickle cell and comfort care patients. 4400 has achieved the AACN GOLD Beacon award for excellence. 4400 is also a DNV Palliative Care Certified unit.


The nursing staff specialize in compassionate patient-centered care with a focus on quality-of-life interventions. 4400 is accredited by the American Board of Surgeons, giving nurses many opportunities to make a difference by offering physical & psycho-social care for patients & their families. Nursing staff are responsible for assessing patients, passing medications, and following provider orders for patient specific tasks. We provide multidisciplinary support with daily care team rounding and geographically assigned teams.



STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Unity Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Oncology

SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings 7a-7p or Evenings/Nights 7p-7a; Every other weekend & holiday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members
  
  


• Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient's unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress
  
  


• Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR - including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication
  
  


• Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements
  
  

EDUCATION:

• AS: Nursing (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.



LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)


• RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PAY RANGE: $35.75 - $48.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
