Responsibilities:
We are interested in applicants who can teach any combination of the following courses: Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Personality, Psychology of Gender, Behavior Modification, Research Methods & Statistics, and Introduction to Psychology. Opportunities to teach General Education classes, Women & Gender Studies classes, and other Psychology courses related to the candidate’s background or interests are available.
For the tenure-track Assistant Professor position, candidates should have (1) documented evidence of teaching excellence in the area of Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or a closely-related area (2) a research program capable of involving undergraduate students, and (3) a commitment to serving a diverse student population. For Assistant Professors, the standard teaching load is 21 semester hours per academic year. This translates as three courses per semester with usually only two preps. Responsibilities for Assistant Professors include teaching, research, and service to the department/college/university.
For the Lecturer position, candidates should have (1) documented evidence of teaching excellence in the area of Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or a closely-related area and (2) a commitment to serving a diverse student population. For Lecturers, the standard teaching load is 27 semester hours per academic year. This translates as four courses one semester and five courses the other semester with usually no more than three preps a semester. Responsibilities for Lecturers include teaching and service to the department/college/university. After the first year, three hours of teaching may be reassigned to academic advising of psychology majors.
Qualifications:
Title will be determined by degree-level completion. Applicants who have completed or will complete a PhD or PsyD from an accredited college/university in Psychology (or closely related area) may apply as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and will be given preference over those with a Master’s degree. A candidate with ABD status may apply as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and would be considered at the Instructor rank until the PhD has been completed. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Psychology (or closely related area) should apply at the level of Lecturer.

7) contact information for 3 professional references.
Candidates selected for the first round of interviews will be asked to send unofficial graduate transcripts (redact any personal or private identifying information including, but not limited to: social security number, birthdate, race or gender, before submitting) and three confidential letters of recommendation that specifically address teaching ability and research directly to Dr. Amy Borchardt at borchardt_ar@mercer.edu.

Pay rate is commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate must submit official transcripts prior to employment.
