The Automation Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems that improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of energy production and water/wastewater treatment processes.
You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop advanced control systems, optimize operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards in the Energy and Water/Wastewater industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation:
Develop and implement automation solutions for energy production facilities, water treatment plants, and wastewater management systems.
Design and program PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI for monitoring and controlling various processes in energy and water/wastewater operations.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, wiring diagrams, and system architecture.
System Integration:
Integrate automation systems with existing infrastructure and ensure compatibility with various process equipment and control platforms.
Collaborate with IT, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth integration and reliable operation of automation systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operations.
Optimization and Maintenance:
Monitor and analyze automation system performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
Implement preventive maintenance strategies to ensure the long-term reliability of automation systems.
Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel on system use and best practices.
Project Management:
Lead automation projects from initial concept through to final implementation, including budget management, scheduling, and resource coordination.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory compliance teams, to achieve project objectives.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure that all automation solutions adhere to regulatory standards, including environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to energy and water/wastewater sectors.
Participate in safety assessments, risk evaluations, and compliance audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in automation engineering, preferably in the energy or water/wastewater industry.
Professional Engineering(P.E.) License strongly preferred
Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI development.
Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and industrial networking.
Experience in managing automation projects, including budget and schedule management.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as NEC, ISA, and EPA guidelines.
