This role is a plant-based role, coordinating and supervising the Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental activities within the OEM division . This role may require travel to other sites within the US.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Quality:
Ensure processes needed for the Quality Management System (QMS) are established, implemented and maintained.
Lead a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Auditors/Inspectors: task allocation, escalation management, performance management, training the team etc.
Advise and support the leadership team to make the right decisions while engaging with both internal and external stakeholders from a QHSE perspective.
Ensure all products meet manufacturing specifications and customer requirements.
Assure the best communication with corporate and customers quality department both in regular activities and in emergency cases.
Support overall quality control aspects of in process and finished products (pre-delivery inspection).
Manage quality activities to meet KPI's and collect quality data to develop reports and statistics.
Management of internal process audits and external audits; external consulting support will be provided if needed. ISO 9001 & ISO 140001
Responsible for collecting, sorting and managing customer warranty claims for certain customers.
Audit internal hose assembly lines to detect issues, conduct risk assessments and follow up on corrective actions.
Identify root causes of issues, using structured problem-solving methodologies and implementation of corrective action plans.
Support continuous improvement activities to enhance competence by using suitable tools.
Conduct quality-based training and education for employees, to enhance the quality mindset geared towards defect prevention (Quality Assurance)
Interface with engineers and related functions to ensure that the new products are verified and validated in accordance with customer requirements.
Health & Safety:
Maintain a safe working environment for themselves and others within the scope of the company's Health and Safety Policy.
Responsible for monitoring Health and Safety Matters (Risk assessments, safe use of equipment, COSHH, Emergency & Evacuation, Accident and Incident reporting & Manual Handling).
Carry out risk assessments as and when needed and consider how risks could be reduced and notify the relevant parties.
Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
Ensure equipment is installed safely, following the corporate guidelines/procedures.
Manage and organize the safe disposal of hazardous substances.
Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
About the candidate:
A technical degree in mechanical, or related engineering field is desirable.
5 years minimum related to quality control and health and safety experience engineering based preferably hydraulics.
Experience in managing a QHES team, conducting audits and performing risk assessments would be advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deviations from quality standards.
Ideally would have knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
