Your Next Career Opportunity – Network Operations Engineer II

The primary function of this position is to provide all technical, troubleshooting, commissioning, provisioning and configuration support associated with the DAS Network System, Microwave, generators, backhaul and other assets managed, owned and maintained by the organization.  This position is also responsible for serving as the second tier of service assurance processes & technical discipline expertise for all of the organization's lines of business and services.

What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities


  • Provide on call support to the 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC), its technicians and the Network Ops Engineer I. 

  • Provide technical coaching and development to technical leads, senior technicians, engineers, analysts and other technical resources in the department. 

  • Establish and direct groups of technical resources in the network operations center during critical events. 

  • Serve as an authoritative focal point of communication between network operations center groups and 3rd party escalations (partners, vendors, etc.) to effectively communicate technical know-how information such as potential cause, restorations status, and field service alerts. 

  • Resolve complex service issues that involve multiple users or ones that cannot be resolved by the lower level techs or engineers. Escalate to Principal Engineer, as necessary. 

  • Provide authority and direction to the process of developing technically sound operations procedures and policies within Network Operations. 

  • Perform proactive analysis on network data and make recommendations for changes/enhancements to improve the customer experience. 

  • Create and maintain documentation that will assist the NOC in faster identification and resolution of network troubles. 

  • Assist to develop and implement proactive network monitoring program for transport and layer 3 and 4 circuits.

  • Collaborate with others on new initiatives and projects. 

  • Recommend and develop project plans and review as required. Establish short- and long-term goals for technical solutions and influence positive change. 

  • Rapidly recognize problems or service impacting situations that are new or without clear precedent. Find solutions and develop improvements and innovations to enhance performance. 

  • Work cross functionally with other team members and groups within the organization. 

What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering or computer science related degree preferred; and 3-5 years Related Network experience and/or training. 4-6 years' experience in DAS operations and IP networking. 

  • Experience supporting Internet Service Provider (ISP) and IXP. Proven track record of technical leadership in at least one area of technology (e.g. DAS, Microwave, MEC’s, Data Centers, Mi-Fi).

  • Knowledge of switching, routing, and transport technologies and concepts, particularly as related to Network services. Working experience of troubleshooting various network related services DHCP, DNS, TFTP, FTP, NTP, SSH, SMTP, and SNMP. Extensive knowledge in DAS, IP network, backhaul and fiber networks.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Required

  • Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP-DC) Preferred

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Preferred
