Opportunity at a Glance

ACAMS is seeking a dynamic, motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for various month-end accounting cycle tasks, including journal entries, general ledger analysis and account reconciliations. You will play a key role in providing consolidated and international accounting support to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely compliance-related audit support and government filings within ACAMS. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will have the opportunity to supervise accounting staff. In addition, this person will handle other duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the timely and accurate recording of various journal entries in accordance with GAAP, IFRS and ACAM's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform numerous account reconciliations and general ledger account analyses.
  • Participate in daily month-end financial close meetings with the accounting & finance team to discuss assigned task status and evaluate monthly financial results.
  • Preparation of periodic financial statements; investigation and reporting of variance analysis.
  • Provides supporting documentation and analytics for international external audits.
  • Support the semi-annual consolidation processes and annual external audit processes for the company, with additional support provided to the Controller as needed. This includes the preparation, compilation, and submission of required analyses and schedules.

  • Foster an environment of collaboration amongst the collective team.

  • Drives changes in processes through use of automation and technology including full utilization of the company's close automation tool.
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement environment, including review of tasks, processes, and workflows within the department for maximum efficiency, productivity, and development.
  • Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position.
  • Bachelor of Science, Accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in accounting/finance related field; public accounting experience preferred.
  • International statutory accounting experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Conversant with GAAP and financial systems management, experience with IFRS preferred.
  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills .
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to deliver very high-quality output.
  • Self-motivating, highly organized individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to effectively multi-task and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely and across different time zones.
  • Must have the ability to facilitate teamwork and cooperation at all levels within the organization, as well as with external parties, and be able to work with limited supervision.
