In this role, you will:

Focus on AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI is responsible for designing and implementing standards and data frameworks that support the development, deployment, and scaling of AI and ML models across the enterprise.

The Principal Enterprise Architect at Kimberly-Clark has expertise in the creation, communication and improvement of the key principles, methods and models that describe the enterprise's future state and enable its evolution. The scope of the enterprise architecture process involves the interpretation of business goals, drivers and strategies, the assessment of the current capabilities of the people, processes, information and technology of the enterprise, and the determination of how these relate to one another and to the external environment.

The process supports the formation of the roadmaps, standards and guiding principles required to define, assure, and govern the required evolution and the transitional processes that facilitate predictable transition to the intended state through information-enabled change in the organization’s structure, business processes, information systems and infrastructure.

The focus of this role will be on defining and maintaining the target architecture for the Kimberly-Clark global data strategy particularly as it relates to Generative AI, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. This role sits at the intersection of AI technology, data engineering, and strategic business initiatives. The Enterprise Data Architect will ensure the company’s data architecture is capable of supporting cutting-edge AI and ML technologies while ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with business goals.

Job Duties:



  • Own the North Star Architecture for AI/ML and Generative AI, aligning to other technical and functional target architectures and driving technology adoption of the three-year road map.


  • Define Enterprise Data Architecture: Design scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures that enable the integration and use of AI, ML, and Generative AI.


  • Generative AI Innovation: Stay abreast of advancements in generative AI (e.g., new models like GPT-4 or Diffusion models) and explore ways to incorporate them into enterprise use cases.


  • AI/ML Tooling: Recommend and adopt best-in-class AI/ML platforms, framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and tools that align with organizational goals.


  • Research and Development: Lead R&D initiatives to explore innovative AI/ML use cases, such as predictive analytics, automation, or natural language processing (NLP).


  • Data Security: Architect solutions that adhere to strict data privacy and security protocols, especially in sensitive environments.


  • Ethical AI: Ensure that AI/ML models are transparent, ethical, and do not introduce bias into business decisions.


  • Model Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to develop a robust framework for model versioning, testing, and deployment across environments.


  • Data Infrastructure: Collaborate with the data platform team to design the underlying infrastructure to support large-scale AI/ML workloads, including storage, pipelines, and real-time processing capabilities.


  • Data Collection & Integration: Ensure the smooth integration of data from multiple sources (structured and unstructured) into AI/ML models, including setting up ETL/ELT pipelines.


  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, business leaders, product managers, and engineers to ensure AI and ML initiatives align with business goals.


  • Training and Mentorship: Lead and mentor teams in AI, ML, and data engineering to build skills within the organization.

  • Questions the Status Quo and looks for opportunities to leverage reuse and drive global platform adoption, and to identify enterprise capabilities where unique solutions are not necessary. Proactively interacts with business partners and DTS at all stages of the lifecycle to collaborate with data architects to design solutions, influence strategy, provide new business and technology ideas, align, and prioritize projects to architecture priorities and drives architecture driven investments.

  • Is recognized as an authority in IT, inside the organization and within the industry. Has a leadership role in external panels, conferences, and forums enhancing the stature of company in the industry and technology community.

  • Provides collaborative and inspirational leadership, influence, and development for other Enterprise and Data Architects in the organization.

  • Must look 1-3 years ahead to consider the long-term consequences for the enterprise when choosing a technical direction, proposing a technology investment, harmonization of the environments, simplification opportunities or advising a business leader on strategic issues.

  • Leads vendor selection process and provides recommendations for investment in technology solutions, supported by appropriate ROI, total cost of ownership, and/or cost benefit analyses.

  • Empowers data architect providing technical guidance and needed training within capability scope.

  • Guarantees data architects follow enterprise architecture practices for all projects within capability scope.

  • Guarantees data quality and accuracy of enterprise artifact repository.

Qualifications:


  • 15+ years Information Technology Experience.

  • 10+ Years Architecture Experience.

  • Experience developing architectural blueprints, standards, and road maps.

  • Extensive knowledge of data architecture principles, frameworks, and patterns, particularly those that support AI/ML and generative AI applications.

  • Prove experience in designing and implementing data architectures that support AI and ML initiatives.

  • Hands-on experience working with Generative AI models (e.g., language models, image generation models) and applying them to real-world business problems.

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing data governance, privacy, and security best practices, especially when handling sensitive data for AI/ML models.

  • Experience in designing systems that are scalable and performant for real-time AI/ML inference and training workflows.

  • Proficiency with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, including AI/ML services such as Azure Machine Learning.

  • Strong expertise in AI/ML frameworks and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn, or Hugging Face Transformers.

  • Familiarity with advanced Generative AI models such as GPT, BERT, DALL·E, or Stable Diffusion, and experience in deploying these models in production environments.

  • Proficiency in working with big data tools and platforms like Snowflake, Spark, Kafka, and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

  • Strong experience in relational and non-relational database design, schema development, and data normalization.

  • Expertise in programming languages used in AI/ML, such as Python, R, Java, and Scala, as well as SQL for data manipulation.

  • Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and tools like Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica.

  • Proven experience in large-complex application rationalization efforts, maximizing current investment and optimizing process complexity.

  • A strong desire to learn and expand their technical knowledge.

  • A passion for leading and developing other Enterprise/Data Architects and Data Engineers.

  • Ability to work in a virtual team which may work across distance (remote), cultures and time zones, in a matrix with multiple reporting lines, and may extend outside the Kimberly-Clark organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
