Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Quality Engineering will be a key member of the organization, working with department heads, the CEO, and the Leadership Team to ensure high-quality standards are upheld throughout the manufacturing process. Acting as the Quality champion, this individual will assess current systems, implement value-added improvements, and drive QA initiatives to optimize processes, minimize defects, and enhance customer satisfaction. Our client seeks an innovative, hands-on leader who can act as a change agent in this growing organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Quality Control Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure vehicles meet company standards and customer specifications.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the production line and recommend solutions to enhance product quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Inspections and Testing: Oversee inspections and testing of incoming materials, in-process products, and final vehicles to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of quality control inspections, test results, and non-conformances. Prepare detailed reports and quality documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for any quality issues that arise, and work with cross-functional teams to develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all quality assurance processes comply with industry regulations, customer requirements, and company policies. Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards.
  • Training: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality assurance procedures and best practices.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components. Conduct supplier audits and assessments as needed.
  • Customer Feedback: Monitor and analyze customer feedback and warranty claims to identify trends and areas for improvement. Implement necessary changes to enhance customer satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the automotive or specialty vehicle industry.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and tools including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with automotive or specialty vehicle industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform detailed inspections and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or Six Sigma is a plus.
