Develop new model introduction strategies including process improvement plans, new and modified plant layouts, capacity analysis, investment requirements, and project justifications with return on investment.
Conduct simultaneous engineering with styling, body design, logistic services, manufacturing, and equipment suppliers to impact new model designs for innovative, efficient, best-in-class manufacturing processes.
Lead process development through design, machine specification, equipment procurement, installation, safety risk assessments, process and production trials, quality and productivity confirmation, and handover to manufacturing.
Support manufacturing innovation and implementation in several disciplines including new materials introduction, joining, quality inspection, logistics and part delivery, automation, electrification, digital engineering, and manufacturing industry 4.0.
Ensure body parts, subassemblies, and finished vehicles meet quality standards for weld integrity, dimensional compliance, surface quality, and other process and customer requirements.
Travel up to 30% as needed to support onsite investigations, modifications, and milestone meetings.
Work both independently and in a team environment to support overall project activities and milestones.
Interact with multiple customers and outside groups including part suppliers, stamping engineering, body design, facilities engineering, equipment suppliers, program managers, accounting and finance, manufacturing, maintenance, and others to collaborate, resolve issues, and provide status reports.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering (expected by May 2023) OR 6 years of equivalent Engineering Related Experience.
Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays & shutdown periods [July and End of December], and across multiple shifts to support tooling modifications and installation projects.
Average Overtime is typically 5 hours/week; Peak overtime may be 20 hours/week.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including to machine vendors, Our Client manufacturing locations & occasionally to Mexico and Canada (up to 30% travel is possible).
1-5 years' experience, and proficiency with 3D CAD.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
What You need to have:
Automotive pre-production or manufacturing engineering experience (1-3 years).
Automation experience including specification, tooling/jig design, equipment procurement, and installation (1-3 years).
Design for Manufacturing / Simultaneous Engineering experience (1-3 years).
Internal Logistics experience including route planning, simulations and analysis, packaging, and automation (1-3 years).
Quality Process Set Up [containment, repeatability, nondestructive inspection] (1-3 years).
Project management skills including scheduling, budgeting, coordinating, problem solving, and reporting (1-3 years).
