What you will get to do

The Program Manager will lead support of a cross-federal IT program as part of the Program Management Office (PMO) through various program operations and management functions including coaching team members, drafting plans, briefings, meeting facilitation/support, supporting program scheduling, tracking action items, risks and issues, knowledge management and other areas as they arise. The ideal team member must provide strategic direction for the PMO support team that includes defining task activities and ensuring successful execution. The Program Manager must have expertise in federal IT regulations and processes. The individual in this role will need to be proactive and willing to handle a variety of general administrative, program management, and technical support duties. The ability to jump in and identify tasks needed to support the team is key, as the program and team are very dynamic and integrated.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to analyze, and identify program task needs, work through complex issues, and communicate effectively problem solving, and providing solutions to critical tasks and meet high priority deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain complete line of sight across program activities and being able to speak to the status of each initiative.
  • Coach and mentor staff to accomplish tasks goals.
  • Responsible for maintaining and building client relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders on deliverables and work products needed by the program, handle knowledge management, data analysis, and strategic program planning.
  • Provide quality assurance, guidance and oversight to client and team members.
  • Produce high-quality documents and organize large amounts of information into a clearly communicated, meaningful format.
  • Manage business process modeling efforts to map out processes, improve communications and efficiency, align operations, assess risks, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare professionally formatted deliverables using Word, Visio, and PowerPoint to include complex data tables and figures.

Work on-site at the client site two to three times a week in Washington DC (hybrid position).

Minimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years supporting federal government customers
  • 5+ years of federal program management experience
  • PMP certification
  • Experience analyzing and understanding federal regulations and policy guidelines
  • Experience with formal project management practices, problem management and change control
  • Experience working on enterprise-scale projects and familiarity with federal IT initiatives
  • Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to take copious notes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment as well as working independently
  • Experience coaching and mentoring staff to accomplish task goals
  • Ability to analyze data and use analytic tools/software such as Excel
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint presentations
  • Must have a Bachelor of Arts or Science
  • Authorized to work for any U.S. employer (must be able to obtain a Public Trust)

Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Google suite of products and Smartsheets
  • Prior government consulting experience
