Position Summary:

Healthy New Albany seeks an Executive Director to lead our community-centered, non-profit organization promoting healthy living. This role requires strategic vision, operational expertise, fundraising expertise, and strong leadership to manage key programs such as our annual walk, food pantry, farmers market, and wellness initiatives. The Executive Director will drive the organization's mission, enhance community engagement, and ensure long-term sustainability.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

("Must-Haves")
  • Proven experience in executive leadership within a nonprofit organization, preferably in community health and engagement
  • Expertise in financial management and strong business acumen
  • Strong fundraising experience in securing funding, managing budgets, and developing innovative fundraising strategies
  • Ability to foster strong partnerships with city officials, community organizations, and stakeholders
  • Strong team leadership and development; skills to evaluate and enhance team dynamics, fostering a cohesive and motivated staff environment
  • Proven track record of engaging diverse community members, board of directors, and volunteers
  • Someone with strategic vision and political savvy; the capability to define and articulate the organization's mission while navigating local politics effectively
  • Effective communicator; proficient in both written and verbal communication
  • Comfort with being the face of the organization and serving as the organization's lead brand ambassador

Who We Are

Healthy New Albany was founded by local residents and volunteers. This movement was inspired by the success of the New Albany Walking Classic®, the first competitive walking race in the nation. Established nearly 15 years ago, Healthy New Albany is a non-profit organization dedicated to making our community the healthiest in America. We focus on upstream prevention and cultivate healthy living through four key pillars: nature, nourishment, knowledge, and movement. Our programs include a food pantry that's served over 230,000 meals, farmers markets with 80+ vendors, a community garden, races with thousands of participants, and various health and wellness classes reaching nearly 1,600 people. We've engaged over 900 volunteers who've contributed more than 9,000 hours of service. These offerings are funded by our generous donors, grants, and our races.
