Location: Redlands, CA

Salary: $100,000-$130,000, bonus eligible

Job Role

The Sr. Automation Process Engineer will play a crucial role in scaling Sojo's automation capabilities, driving continuous improvement and development of factory equipment, and supporting the integration of new machines into plant operations. Working out of our Redlands, CA hub, this individual will travel to other hubs and Sojo Flight mobile deployments as part of a dynamic national engineering team. This role is central to achieving Sojo's goal of becoming the lowest cost provider while maintaining high standards of quality and sustainability.

Responsibilities
• Continuous Improvement & Development: Lead initiatives to improve equipment performance, enhance process reliability, and implement innovative solutions for factory operations.
• Engineering Handoff: Ensure the successful integration of new machines and equipment into plant operations, including troubleshooting, performance verification, and alignment with operational needs.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers and maintenance staff.
• Collaboration: Act as a key contributor to the national manufacturing engineering group, sharing insights and strategies that support process standardization, development, and best practices.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve process bottlenecks, equipment inefficiencies, and production challenges to optimize manufacturing workflows.
• Data Analysis: Use data-driven methods to analyze equipment performance and cycle time, track KPIs, and implement changes that lead to measurable improvements.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with plant operations, maintenance, and quality teams to align engineering projects with operational goals.
• Safety: Ensure all process changes and new equipment comply with safety standards
• Sojo Flight: Lead the deployment and continuous optimization of Sojo Flight mobile manufacturing lines in other facilities, ensuring smooth startup and troubleshooting issues in real time, traveling up to 50%

Basic Qualifications and Skills
• 5-10 years' experience in a fast-paced engineering or operations environment
• Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical information to non-engineering stakeholders
• Tech-savvy with a strong understanding of automation systems and robotics
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience troubleshooting automated factory equipment including but not limited to industrial robots, conveying systems, packaging machinery, and vision systems
• Knowledge of safety practices for working with factory equipment
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• Willingness to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications
• In-depth engineering analysis skills
• FANUC Robot Programming and troubleshooting
• Allen Bradley PLC Programming or equivalent
• Microsoft Office suite
• CI/CD
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
• Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
