Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager on our 2nd Shift (3-11:30pm) to join our team! The Operations Manager will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the automotive remanufacturing plant specializing in transmissions. This role requires a strategic leader with strong organizational skills, extensive experience in manufacturing operations, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Manager will ensure production targets are met, quality standards are maintained, and operational efficiency is optimized.

Core Responsibilities



  • Operational Oversight:

    • Manage all aspects of the plant’s operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.

    • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

    • Manages directly production management and indirectly multiple plant supervisors


  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Provide leadership and direction to the Production Manager and indirectly to the production staff.

    • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for direct and indirect reports.


  • Production Management:
    • Oversee production schedules to ensure timely delivery of remanufactured transmissions.

    • Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to address any deviations from targets.

    • Collaborate with the Production Manager to address any production issues and ensure smooth operations.


  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all remanufactured transmissions meet or exceed quality standards.

    • Work closely with the quality control team to develop and enforce quality control processes.

    • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.


  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.

    • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies.

    • Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.


  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all staff are trained in safety procedures.

    • Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified hazards.


  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

    • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures as needed.

    • Report on financial performance and operational metrics to senior management.


  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments, including company leadership, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering, to align operations with company goals.

    • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely availability of materials and services.

Qualifications:


  • Strong knowledge of automotive remanufacturing processes, particularly transmissions.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.Preferred:

  • Green Belt Certification

  • Master’s in Business or Engineering

Physical Requirements:


  • This position is based in a plant environment with exposure to noise, oil, and varying temperatures.

  • Regular working hours with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed to meet production deadlines.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
