Burlington Telecom has an immediate opening for a Director of Technology & Technical Operations. The Director of Technology & Technical Operations is responsible for providing both strategic direction, engineering and the day to day management of network engineering and operations personnel. The successful candidate will be familiar with employing fiber to the premises and wireless telecommunication technologies towards improved operations and business development opportunities. They will provide leadership, direction and empowerment towards professional development of personnel.

Rate: $120,000-$150,000/year
Location: Office located in Burlington, VT
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Develops and refines the management strategy for the department.
Applies engineering principles to solve operational and network challenges.
Ensures consistent and effective practices and procedures.
Ability to train, direct, evaluate, and motivate a blended team of nonexempt and exempt employees.
Tracks and reports on key trends to senior leadership in workforce management such as missed/late appointments, response time, work order statuses, job routing, technician productivity.
Negotiates short and long-term contracts with vendors, monitors cost effectiveness and performance of vendors against negotiated SOWs/SLAs.
Leads oversight of production and quality assurance related to construction, splicing and safety in accordance with standards, guidelines & regulations.
Develops, tracks, and maintains production and quality metrics for personnel.
Works with Dispatch, Customer Service, Network Engineering & Operations, and Field Operations teams to increase efficiencies to reduce customer experience issues and improve fulfillment and service delivery.
Shares best practices across areas, reviews company initiatives, and discusses obstacles that are impacting operations.
Develops budget and forecast models and ensures accuracy of both for tracking and trending all capital and expense line items for workforce management.
The successful Director of Technology & Technical Operations will have:
Experience working in fiber broadband environment developing monitoring processes, analytics, deployments, maintenance procedures, update/upgrade/expansion plans, etc. for technical network operations.
5 years successful experience in a leadership capacity showing progressive roles and responsibilities.
10 years of experience implementing telecommunication network technologies including planning, designing, cost estimating, installing, maintaining fiber optic networks operations center/equipment. Soft phone switch experience is preferred.
Proven project management experience with complex parameters/scopes.
Thorough knowledge of FTTP access technologies (e.g., EPON, XPON, etc.).
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure team environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Exceptional customer service orientation and skills in addition to working in a team-oriented environment.
Responds quickly and efficiently to production/operational issues and takes responsibility for seeing those issues to resolution.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in the field of electrical engineering, computer science, other engineering, telecommunications, information systems, business or equivalent industry experience is required.
