Arthrex is a global medical device company and leader in orthopedics medical education. The Quality Engineering team in Santa Barbara, CA (ACT) is responsible for the design, development, manufacture, servicing, and distribution of Imaging and Resection non-sterile medical devices. We are searching for an Intern pursuing an Engineering degree to support the Quality Assurance team at ACT. The successful candidate will prepare, execute, and modify calibration procedures, and visual acceptance criteria, and improve inspection methods with guidance from the Quality Engineering team The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.

This internship will run from May 2025 - August 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Santa Barbara, CA facility.

Main Objective:

Gain experience in the medical device industry, and allow a deep dive into the Quality Assurance side of the business. This will consist of involvement with create of calibration procedures, and acceptance standards for cosmetic aesthetic rejects in production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Convert Calibration Procedures from our old Fluke 5522A Calibrator model to be compatible with our 5550A model. This conversion is at a software code level.

  • Scrap Reduction Project - Reduce scrap for components due to cosmetic/aesthetic reasons (borderline rejects).

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
