Job Description:

The One Stop Assistant is a full-time, permanent, classified staff position assigned to the One Stop Center in the Student Center building on the Dyersburg Campus. The One Stop Assistant is a member of the Student Services staff and reports to the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services. They assist students with questions pertaining to financial aid, admission, the DSCC web page and MyDSCC portal, and student records.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assist students in person, by phone, or email with enrollment questions. Use INB Banner and Self-Service to access information to better answer questions.

  • Collect and check documents from students about enrollment, business accounts or financial aid. Check to ensure documents are complete. Documents include but are not limited to book vouchers, financial aid verification and appeal documentation, change of Information forms and student-provided proof if a change involves name, permanent address, or SSN, student loan request forms, direct deposit requests, transcript and enrollment verification request forms and change of registration or withdrawal forms.

  • Instruct students on how to navigate the DSCC website, including where to find online forms and use of the MyDSCC portal to locate information. Assist students who must have MyDSCC passwords reset or who need to know their usernames. Assist with the following online processes in the One Stop Center:

  • applying for admission.

  • Class entry for non-degree students and those students who have been advised.

  • Selective Service Registration.

  • Printing unofficial transcripts.

  • Making changes to biographical information other than name, SSN, or permanent address.

  • Scheduling an appointment for advising.

  • Change a MyDSCC password using the Password Reset tool.

  • FAFSA completion.

  • Student Loan counseling and application.

  • Payment of fees.

  • Assist with calling students to inform them of missing documents and help with the enrollment process.

  • Ensure students' requirements for admission, financial aid, and testing have been met by checking the student's account information in Banner and/or Banner Self-Service before the student meeting with an advisor. When the advising appointment scheduler is active on the Web page, print and check the list of students with scheduled appointments each day. Notify students of missing requirements when they arrive for their appointment.

  • Provide customer service for various financial transactions with students and non-students, perform cashiering duties including all aspects of student registration, receipting of student payments, receipting sponsor payments, miscellaneous receipts and balancing daily transactions while ensuring compliance with daily banking laws.

  • Accept payments for tuition, fees, parking, and other student charges. Use the DSCC Touchnet system to track fees and post to student accounts. Balance the cash box daily according to policy.

  • Attend training as needed to stay abreast of institutional policies and procedures.

  • Refer students to administrative offices when necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Working Conditions:


Sedentary: Deskwork; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.



Required Qualifications:



Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills. Must have the ability to prioritize and the rapid ability to change focus from one position to another. Must have the personality to work with people from diverse backgrounds.



Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:


High School diploma or GED required.


Associate Degree preferred.


Minimum of two years' experience in customer service.


Experience in a professional, office setting preferred.



Minimum starting pay is $28,400 annually ($14.57 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $34,100.
