Overview



As Newport Beachside Hotel transitions to The Sunny, we are looking for an experienced and energetic Part-Time Banquet Captain to help bring our banquet and event services to the next level. This is an exciting time to join our team and play a key role in ensuring memorable experiences for our guests during special events.


As The Sunny evolves, our banquet services will be integral to creating unique and unforgettable experiences. The Banquet Captain will lead the team in delivering seamless events, ensuring that every detail reflects the new brand's fresh and vibrant identity.



Responsibilities




What You'll Be Doing

• 
  Leading Banquet Set-Up and Service
  
  Oversee the preparation and execution of events, ensuring that all set-ups are in line with event orders and guest expectations. From elegant weddings to corporate functions, you'll make sure everything runs smoothly.


• 
  Managing the Banquet Team
  
  Lead and direct banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff, ensuring they provide outstanding service and follow the event timeline precisely.


• 
  Coordinating with Event Planners and Guests
  
  Act as the primary point of contact during events, working with planners and guests to make sure all details are executed to perfection. You'll resolve any issues quickly and with a positive, can-do attitude.


• 
  Ensuring Timely Service
  
  Work closely with the kitchen and bar to guarantee food and beverage service is timely, accurate, and reflects the high standards we're setting at The Sunny.


• 
  Maintaining a High Level of Guest Satisfaction
  
  Ensure that guests have a wonderful and stress-free experience, attending to their needs and ensuring that the service meets and exceeds expectations.


• 
  Training and Mentoring Staff
  
  Help onboard and train new banquet team members, leading by example and ensuring they understand both the technical and service aspects of their roles.


• 
  Adapting to Our Brand Changes:
  
  Support the hotel's transition by incorporating new service standards and initiatives aligned with The Sunny's brand values and vision for a modern, elevated guest experience.

Qualifications




What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Banquet Captain or in a similar leadership role in events/banquets


• Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage a team and ensure smooth event execution


• Excellent communication and guest service skills


• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment


• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the event schedule


• A proactive attitude, with the ability to problem-solve on the spot and keep a calm, professional demeanor


• A passion for creating memorable guest experiences
