Arcadis is seeking a Retail Facilities Inspector to join our Technical Advisory Team in Southern California. As a Facilities Inspector, your primary responsibility will be to perform structural inspections of the rack storage systems for a large portfolio of retail and warehouse facilities, and structural steel canopies of retail gas-stations. You will visit 3-4 sites per week, conducting thorough inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. This position requires frequent travel within the California and out of state. A company vehicle can be proved if you do not own one. Role description:

The Retail Facilities Inspector role involves conducting annual inspections of storage racks and steel canopy systems at major national retail stores to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Responsibilities include documenting findings, preparing comprehensive reports, and collaborating with store managers and maintenance teams to address deficiencies. Qualifications include previous experience as a Facility Inspector, strong knowledge of safety standards, excellent observational skills, and a valid driver's license for extensive travel.

Role accountabilities:


  • The position includes a high level of responsibility and accountability for the execution and delivery of management consulting activities within a developing specialist team.
  • Conduct annual inspections of storage racks and canopy systems at major national retail stores and gas stations to assess their condition and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Perform thorough visual inspections, checking for structural integrity, proper installation, and any signs of damage or wear.
  • Document inspection findings accurately, including photographs and detailed notes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports outlining any identified issues, recommended corrective actions, and compliance status.
  • Collaborate with store managers and maintenance teams to address identified deficiencies and provide guidance on necessary repairs or improvements.
  • Stay up to date with relevant safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices related to storage rack inspections.
  • Utilize digital tools and technologies to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of inspections and reporting processes.
  • Assist the team in performing facility condition assessments for various asset classes, including industrial facilities, multi-family residential, and commercial buildings.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Previous experience as a Facility Inspector or a related role, with a focus on conducting inspections for storage racks or structural steel preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to storage racks and shelving systems and structural steel.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills to identify potential hazards and deficiencies.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage travel schedules and inspection priorities.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and technologies for inspections and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region, including in-state and out of state.
  • Familiarity with other facility condition assessment areas such as structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and building systems is a plus.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license as extensive travel within the region is required.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
