Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $83,000.00 - $126,875.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

Overview:

The Associate Director, Development (Individual Giving) is a key member of a dynamic fundraising team for the nations leading orthopedics and rheumatology academic medical center. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Individual Giving and working as part of a highly collaborative team, the AD will develop and maintain a portfolio of annual leadership and major gift level prospects and donors. The position will work with the AVP, Individual Giving and Development Directors to manage, and in some cases directly manage, partnerships with service chiefs, physicians, and service line administrators. The AD will stay informed and maintain best practices for development and help to build a culture of philanthropy across the HSS enterprise. The position will manage the Rheumatology Council and partner with the AVP and Division leadership in maximizing the impact of this volunteer group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and build a portfolio of annual leadership and major gift level donors and prospects. This includes planning, and executing strategies from donor discovery through cultivation, solicitation and close of gifts in coordination with appropriate partners.
  • Actively work to renew and upgrade past donors and to secure new donors, with a focus on building a pipeline of supporters at $25K+ level.
  • Serve as a fundraising lead and content expert for an assigned service lines and/or funding priorities. Developing funding opportunities, proposals and outreach materials, and identifying prospective donors for those needs.
  • Successfully partner within service lines, including partnering with physician, physician and volunteer leaders, and other key stakeholders. Provide comprehensive, strategic support to physicians and volunteers in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Facilitate and participate in face-to-face briefings, solicitations, and gift negotiations independently and in partnership with AVP, Development Directors, physicians, and others
  • Manage the Rheumatology Council, including the creation of a full-year plan for committee meetings, communications (meeting reminders, presentations, etc.), and strategic engagement of members. Track and analyze participation of Council members throughout the year, assessing them for greater involvement at HSS and and/or major gift potential.
  • As well as prepping presentations, written and verbal communications, and meeting materials on behalf of the CDO and AVP.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelors degree is required, master's degree desirable.
  • A minimum of five years of development or equivalent work experience is required. Fundraising experience a plus.
