Advanced Practice Provider - Breast Medical Oncology

Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role that specializes in the care of patients with breast cancer. This team has a demonstrated history of providing exquisite, evidence-based patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to work in this invigorating and collaborative environment. The breast medical oncology APP will deliver direct care to outpatient breast cancer patients. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider will promote a collaborative relationship between providers, professional nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure continuity of patient care in the management of their disease and related issues as well as to develop expertise in these fields. Within this role, the advanced practice provider will be responsible for a panel of patients. Other responsibilities include caring for patients throughout their continuum of care and fostering collaboration with other professionals within the hospital and clinics to facilitate patient care.
The breast medical oncology APP provides outpatient care to the breast cancer patient population. Primary Responsibilities
Performs and records the patient history and physical examination and discusses findings with the collaborating team. Acquiring and coordinating laboratory results, charting of clinical findings in the EMR, orders, nursing instructions, and other required elements.
Applies advanced practice knowledge to identify, prevent or solve complex and/or recurring breast cancer patient care problems.
Follows and manages patients (in collaboration with MD) improving continuity of care.
Performs (coordinates/assures completion of) specialized procedures particular to the select oncology population mutually agreed upon with collaborating physician.
Collaborates with staff and physicians to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinates resources and write appropriate orders improving access to care, establishing goals for the delivery of care to patients, participating in clinical research, and managing communications between physicians, patients, family, and staff.
Appreciates complex medication interactions.
Ensures appropriate diagnostic procedures occur in a timely matter through careful coordination with other services such as radiology, facilitating various clinic appointments, communicating with patients regarding test results, and providing coverage for the team.
Educating patients regarding a variety of breast cancer issues associated with chemotherapy or immunotherapy regimens.
Indications and interpretation of radiology, pathology, and laboratory results.
Understands the sophisticated medical environments of cancer patients including, but not limited to, those with advanced malignancy or organ dysfunction.
Writes orders in accord with current guidelines including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Maintains and practices in accord with practice guidelines per state and hospital regulations.

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of NCCPA program
Current licensure in the commonwealth of Massachusetts as a registered NP/PA
Current certification as a nurse practitioner in appropriate specialty to care for adult patients.
2 Years Advanced Practice experience preferred; prior hematology/oncology experience preferred. Proficiency with Epic and EMRs preferred. Familiarity with clinical trials preferred.
May indirectly provide leadership and mentorship to less seasoned and new staff
Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by optimally using Mass General Brigham resources
