This is a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Dean of Arts, Sciences, & Technologies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach 24 hours (TLE) per academic year in Health Information Technology online lectures and labs. The Program Coordinator will receive 6 hours of release time per academic year to perform administrative duties related to Health Information Management.
Teach a range of ages from Dual Enrollment high school students to nontraditional, returning adults.
Recruit students from area high schools and from the community to make DSCC's program viable and competitive.
Flexibility to teach evenings/weekends and/or off-campus courses as needed (requires the use of personal vehicle).
Practice a learning-centered educational philosophy and redesign courses to include research- based learning strategies.
Develop web-enhanced courses for delivery in technology-enhanced classrooms/labs, online, or in a hybrid mode.
Develop cooperative education opportunities for students in the local community that provide capstone experiences for the program.
Revise and develop curriculum in cooperation with colleagues and select textbooks and e- textbooks in cooperation with colleagues.
Become certified in and fully use the course management system for all courses.
Coordinate assessment efforts for the courses in the department(s), ensuring that accreditation materials, academic audit reports, and program review documents are submitted to the appropriate administrators at the college by the deadline(s).
Provide leadership to the department in devising recruiting strategies.
Participate in professional development and maintain membership in an appropriate regional, state and/or national organization related to your teaching at DSCC.
Assist with the identification and mentoring of adjunct instructors.
Assist in the preparation of course schedules.
Advise students, maintain regular office hours, and participate in college life and committee work of the College.
Willingness to acquire software certifications as needed.
Assist in grant writing.
Actively communicate with colleagues and students using email, voice mail, text and other electronic means. Normally, responses are expected in no more than 72 hours.
Be trained and certified as a Master Advisor.
Prepares assigned TBR reports.
Represents the faculty, staff, and students of the Department within the Division and represents the College in the community.
Works with the faculty, the Dean, the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success and the Director of Admissions and Records to maintain articulation agreements with area high schools, technology centers, colleges and universities.
Works with the President, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Students Success, the Dean, and faculty to derive optimal benefit from advisory committees.
Serve on College standing and search committees as requested by the Dean.
Willingness to work with incarcerated students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Ability to communicate well in oral and written English.
* Actively communicate with colleagues using email and other electronic means.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution with the Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) credential
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Teaching experience.
* Administrative experience.
* Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution with Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) credential.
Annual rate of pay is based on the highest degree attained and prior experience. Minimum is based on having a Bachelor's Degree and minimum experience. $41,670-$50,500
