The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington is seeking a full-time academic neuropathologist for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure), due to reasons of funding, to join our Neuropathology Division on the clinician-scientist pathway.

Each year the Division of Neuropathology evaluates approximately 2,000 surgical specimens and 300 autopsies. Faculty in our division have well-funded research laboratories and collaborate extensively with members of allied Departments to include teaching, research and clinical service.

The successful candidate will be appointed as the James D. Murray Endowed Chair of Applied Mathematics and will be expected to develop an independent, extramurally funded research program and to collaborate with/develop strategies and infrastructure for supporting advanced analytics and modeling in neuropathology including neuroimaging, digital pathology, and multiomics datasets. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in diagnostic neurosurgical neuropathology services. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in diagnostic neurosurgical neuropathology services. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in fellow, resident, graduate and/or medical student teaching. There are additional opportunities to participate in molecular diagnostics/sequencing services as well as neuromuscular, ophthalmic, and autopsy neuropathology services.

Assistant Professors WOTare eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is full-time, non-tenured, and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of 1/2/2025 but is flexible.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $19,920.66 to $24,287.58 per month ($239,048 to $291,451 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an MD or foreign equivalent, should be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology, and qualify for a license to practice medicine in the State of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
