THE JOB

Tidewater Environmental Services, Inc. is hiring a full-time Mechanic I - Preventative Maintenance to perform scheduled and routine preventative maintenance duties on all equipment, including but not limited to, diesel trucks, Vac-Con trucks, drop boxes and high pressure/high volume wash pumps.

  • Performs scheduled and routine preventative maintenance such as changing oil, checking and refilling fluid levels, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Performs non-DOT vehicle and equipment safety inspections.
  • Notifies Maintenance Supervisor of major damage or equipment failures.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment as directed.
  • Documents all work completed on electronic repair orders.
  • Drives and transports equipment as necessary to and from different locations.
  • Picks up and delivers parts as needed.
  • Performs routine fueling and cleaning of shop equipment.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area which may include sweeping, organizing, and maintaining the shop and grounds areas.
  • Represents the Company in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

THE CATCH

  • High school diploma or equivalent with prior experience performing preventative maintenance on automotive and/or diesel equipment.
  • Vocational/technical certification preferred.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Communication skills necessary to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships, influence change, resolve problems, and interact with personnel at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to operate equipment including electric power tools, hand tools, air tools, grinders, hydraulic jacks, forklifts, drills, come-alongs, chain hoist, etc.
    • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required which may include ear plugs, safety eyewear, gloves, crust resistant footwear, hard hat, and personal flotation devices.
    • Completion of OSHA 24-hour HAZWOPER training.
    • Ability to obtain air brake and AC certifications.
    • Ability to be certified in First Aid/CPR.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Department of Homeland Security.
    • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record to operate company-owned vehicles.
    • Ability to obtain Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
    • Must be available on an on-call basis nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Must have general mechanic hand tools as required.

THE PAY

HIRING WAGE: $23.27 - $27.38 / hour

FULL WAGE RANGE: $23.27 - $31.48 / hour
