PURPOSE OF POSITION:



To propel current knowledge and expand scientific discovery in the areas of communication sciences, hearing, speech, language, and/or literacy to impact the lives of children and families.



REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Research, Teaching and/or Training.

  • Lead innovative translational research in communication sciences, hearing, speech, language, and/or reading literacy independently and collaboratively.

  • Lead/participate in the integration and growth of new and existing research programs.

  • Initiate and coordinate well-designed research studies that have the potential for external funding.

  • Secure funding to support independent research programs through intramural and extramural grants.

  • Ensure that all research functions operate at the highest level of quality, while maintaining fiscal soundness.

  • Participate in training and mentoring of undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral and research fellows, medical students, residents, and clinical researchers on pilot studies, dissertation and capstone projects, evidence-based practice projects, and quality improvement projects.

  • Participate in invited lectures at conferences, workshops, faculty development programs, and professional society programs.

  • Service and/or Administration.

  • Contribute to the mission of Cincinnati Children's Departments of Pediatrics and Patient Services Research.

  • Participate in local (divisional, departmental, hospital, university), regional or national committees, such as research committees, strategic planning committees, and search committees.

  • Participate in activities to plan, implement and improve research and/or clinical activities in the Departments of Pediatrics and Patient Services.

  • Enhance professional knowledge by attending seminars and professional meetings at the local, national, and international level.

  • Scholarly Activities

  • Develop and lead research programs.

  • Secure internal and external funding to support independent research programs.

  • Disseminate scientific discoveries through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, editorials, book chapters and interviews.

  • Serve as a reviewer and/or editorial board member for high quality journals.

  • Serve on local, regional, and/or national grant review committees.


Qualifications/ Requirements for an Assistant Professor - Research



  • PhD degree in related discipline of Communication Sciences, Audiology, Speech Language Pathology, or related field.

  • Analytical (quantitative/qualitative) skills in related field.

  • Experience with disseminating research findings through conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications.

  • Assistant Professor appointment or eligibility required.


Qualifications/ Requirements for an Associate Professor - Research



  • PhD degree in a related discipline of Communication Sciences, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field.

  • Experience in health research and team science.

  • Analytical (quantitative/qualitative) skills in related field.

  • A record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications.

  • Experience in grant writing.

  • Defined a research program that aligns with Cincinnati Children's mission.

  • Success in securing extramural grant funding.

  • Minimum of five years of related experience in research.


Preferred:



  • Candidates with demonstrated ability to conduct research in communication sciences, hearing, speech, and/or language research.

  • History of research collaborations with hearing and speech clinical professionals.

  • A record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications.

  • Experience in grant writing.
