Overview: The FIRE (Field Issue Resolution Engineering) team at our client is looking to add five Network Engineer IIIs to their team to support expansion projects. They are looking for engineers who have advanced knowledge of DOCSIS, CMTS platforms and have a strong background with troubleshooting CPE and ONU.
Skill Set
Strong understanding of DOCSIS (at least 3.1 and above)
Experience troubleshooting CPE and ONU
Experience working with CMTS platforms like Casa C100G, Arris E6000 and Cisco cBR8
Understanding of routing protocols including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, V4/V6 multicast
Experience with switch platforms like Cisco NCS/ASR or Juniper PTX/QFX/ACX
Working knowledge of RPHY - Harmonic vCMTS and RPDs and Vecima RPDs
Working knowledge of EPON platforms including: ADTRAN 95XX and SDX-6210, Vecima (Nokia) 7360 and Distributed Access Architecture SF-4x, SC-2D3
Responsibilities
This team supports high priority issues in the field
Once a field issue is identified the issue is reported to this team, the engineers will work to reproduce this issue in the lab to identify whether it is a hardware or software issue, they will send this information to the vendor to find the fix, then will test the fix and pass it along
Troubleshoots and resolves escalated Access and CPE device field issues.
Performs assessments on existing technologies to determine performance and capacity gaps.
Establishes security, connectivity and access parameters.
Provides recommendations to optimize network infrastructure.
Tests and tunes security devices and systems.
Programs routers and switches.
Implements communications technologies (data or voice).
Manages network services from planning phase through implementation.
Solid knowledge of routing protocols, network hardware and software, security technologies and network infrastructure is required
