The Technical Publications and Documentation role will assist engineering in documenting and communicating detailed technical information to Orchard-Rite customers, dealers, service, sales, and production. Assist in developing marketing documentation. This is an on-location position.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Work with engineers to create and upkeep technical documents such as:
o Operator's, Parts, & Service Manuals
o Required Service Actions
o Electrical & Hydraulic Schematics
o Electrical Harness Drawings
o Product Notifications • Communicate directly with equipment dealers. • Can work with individuals and teams to develop and receive feedback on technical documents. • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities: • Willing to learn. • Self-motivated to accomplish tasks. • Ability to work independently. • Strong technical & marketing writing skills. • Easily adaptable to changes in project scope, deadlines/scheduling, and project prioritization. • Can discuss openly difficult topics. • Ability to communicate with and work effectively with a wide range of communication styles and personality types. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Knowledge of machinery and equipment. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products, or related software. • CAD software experience is a plus. • Must be able to communicate in English. • Ability to translate technical engineering language into plain and clear text.
Education and Experience: • 3 years of work experience in technical writing required and/or document control. • 5 years of work in or around a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Walking and outdoor activities. • Must be able to access and review all areas of machinery. • Must be able to work around loud machinery. • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (ear and eye protection) when working around machinery.
