HTI is searching for an experienced Quality Engineer for a Tier-1 Automotive Supplier in the Charleston, SC area (Summerville, SC). Salary depends on experience and education, and the range is $80,000 - $90,000 / year.
Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer is a customer-facing role, responsible for analyzing both acute and/or chronic component and finished good concerns. Each Quality Engineer is assigned to 1-2 customers. This role has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Quality Engineering Group Leader.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Must have 4+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within the manufacturing industry
Experience in a fast-paced/high-volume manufacturing environment strongly preferred (automotive supplier, aerospace supplier, medical manufacturing, etc.)
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), FMEA, PPAP, quality audits, Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA), and ISO/TS 16949
Knowledge of metrology, standard gauging practices, and gage and test equipment
Familiar with friction welding, balancing, and paint processes preferred
Intermediate Microsoft Office software skills; familiarity with SAP ERP system a plus
ASQ Certification is a plus
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
Job Duties:
Communicate with customer contacts regarding quality concerns and processes.
Identify problems related to machining processes, assembly methods and processes of the business operating system (BOS); participate in cross-functional team efforts to solve these problems.
Recommend corrective actions to be taken.
Coordinate quality objectives with other departments and supports them in achieving compliance.
Maintain practices consistent with IATF 16949, as well as customer requirements and specifications.
Provide technical expertise in product development projects, design reviews, verification, process validation and manufacturability involving R&D, Product Group, Procurement, Manufacturing and other departments.
Compile product and process validation documentation per AIAG and customer requirements (PPAP).
Monitor customer portals based on assignments including PPAP, customer claims and customer scorecards.
Support internal, external and customer audits.
Analyze assembly concerns; audit parts to verify specifications and tolerances.
Develop or update quality procedures, control plans and inspection plans as required.
Coordinate problem solving efforts with respective personnel using problem solving tools including 8D, 5Y, Ishikawa.
Has the authority to hold and/or stop product shipments if it does not conform to the quality requirements.
Minimal travel (only 1-2 potential trips per year).
