Job Description:

A growing biotech company in the multi-omics industry is seeking an experienced Product Manager to join their team.

Job Profile:

Location: Preferred candidate would report to the Rockville, MD HQ. Alternatively, candidates located on the East Coast with easy access to a major airport are also considered.

Position Responsibilities:

The Product Manager will focus on three core areas: go-to-market strategy development, end-to-end technical support, and creation of technical content for genomics service products. This role provides an opportunity to work across all functional areas and develop experience working with a diverse, global, cross-functional team to maximize customer experience and develop their portfolio to address evolving science applications, methods, and areas of research. The candidate should become an expert in the assigned service products and provide in-depth technical oversight and tactical leadership throughout the commercial lifecycle, including:

Developing the Markets or Assigned Portfolio:
  • Engage in business development to identify new and/or complementary technologies to integrate into the company's service offerings.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including routine communication with current partners to ensure best-in-class service performance.
  • Research technical solutions with NGS R&D and Operations staff to meet customers' scientific needs.
  • Conduct customer interviews and market assessments to ensure the portfolio offering, service level, and workflow needs are up-to-date; perform financial justification and analysis for investments in new or upgraded workflows.
  • Prepare go-to-market strategies, including internal training materials, pricing strategies, customer deliverables, sales tactics, and marketing activities in collaboration with marketing colleagues.

Supporting the Commercial Sales Process:
  • Collaborate with current technology vendors to explore and capture prospective growth opportunities; maintain active programs to co-market workflows and ensure revenue streams across various customer segments.
  • Build product/brand strategy with marketing colleagues, including pricing, promotion, and positioning. Partner with internal teams and external agencies/vendors to deploy effective marketing programs.
  • Formulate sales strategies for the assigned product line across various North American territories with the sales team.
  • Lead and support technical discussions with customers to qualify opportunities for the assigned workflow portfolio. Act as a liaison between customers/sales personnel and R&D/lab staff to resolve customer inquiries.
  • Support regional activities such as product shows and attend national conferences to represent the portfolio.
  • Execute fiscal marketing programs from start to finish, driving collaboration with internal stakeholders and leveraging or creating appropriate internal processes.
  • Perform competitive analysis of the assigned portfolio against competitors, including current pricing, promotions, new applications, and service levels.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing additional assigned projects as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in life sciences or marketing/business.
  • Advanced degree in a related life science field, MBA, or industry certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge in genomics technology relevant to the NGS field is a must.
  • Product marketing experience within academia, pharmaceutical, biotech industry, or related fields is preferred; research/lab management experience in life sciences or molecular biology is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle ambiguity, and demonstrate self-motivation and direction-setting.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, capable of working independently to develop solutions and make new proposals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels within the company and various customer hierarchies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for meetings.
