Our vertically integrated corporate offices and manufacturing plant is located in Chino, CA and offers 100k sqaure feet of manufacturing and over 150 dedicated employees.
The Vice President/Director of Plant Operations will provide leadership support in all aspects of our production facility located in Chino, CA. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, this role will provide support and guidance in all production and operational endeavors of our manufacturing processes. The right candidate will be a proven leader, with great communication skills, who is ready to lead an amazing team of highly skilled furniture manufacturing craftsmen. Furniture Industry Experience, or directly related, is a requirement.
Essential Functions
Manage operations through Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) including, safety, product quality, productivity, regulatory, costs, and customer service.
Build a strong, achievement-oriented team by using the appropriate mix of hiring, delegation, training, monitoring, feedback, development, coaching, motivation, mentoring, and Team Member retention techniques.
Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout all plant departments.
Engage and motivate the workforce through an active and strong presence on the production floor.
Ability to guide the creation, documentation, and application of Standard Procedures and Processes
Operate the site at the highest levels of efficiency by managing equipment reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) while managing site spending and expenses to minimum levels required to meet site strategy.
Identify operational discrepancies and provide focused solutions with a timeline for corrective action.
Maintain a clean and safe plant. Continually improve our safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and Team Member safety behaviors. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
Prepares an annual Operating Expense Budget and monthly forecast. Monitors ongoing performance against the budget. Participates in annual business planning and budgeting of the plant.
Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of staffing, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards will exceed our customers' expectations.
Drive continuous improvement activities to achieve world class manufacturing excellence by leading, modeling, and embedding into the culture an innovative, "can do", and LEAN approach.
Ensure the product being manufactured meets company and customer's standards, policies, and practices through the proper implementation and maintenance of all aspects of quality systems such as GMP, SQF, etc.
Reduce scrap and waste and initiate other cost reduction activities throughout the facility.
Lead a zero-loss culture, assuring a safe working environment and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory codes.
Skills & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related technical field preferred; MBA a plus
Understanding of the
Furniture Industry Experience or related industry experience with manufactured goods is required.
10+ Years Manufacturing Experience, with an increasing responsibility in job role
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of Kaizen, Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, Total Quality Control, Just-In-Time Production concepts and practices
Full understanding of Made-To-Order and Job Shop Manufacturing
Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities, particularly within Hispanic/Latino labor environments.
Demonstrated leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential
Demonstrated leadership of safety initiatives that drive a zero-injury culture
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Strong understanding of cultural nuances, communication styles, and work practices common within Hispanic labor culture.
Demonstrated success with project management, including developing capital plans and managing from planning to completion
Full knowledge of production planning and scheduling processes and best practices
Ability to utilize ERP systems, basic business software, email, and other software systems
Full understanding of Made-To-Order and Job Shop Manufacturing
Ability to guide the creation, documentation, and application of Standard Procedures and Processes
Understanding of engineering concepts related to manufacturing factory layout and general product design
